Stack Watch

Stack Watch is a program run by Environment Hamilton to give the public an opportunity to report visible air emissions from stacks in Hamilton's industrial core. Environment Hamilton provides an industrial stacks key to the public which is a labelled picture of all the stacks in Hamilton's industrial core. If you can see visible emissions coming from a stack - not steam but discoloured discharges of a black, brown, green, or orangy-red colour - then it is very likely that the stack emission that you are viewing is in violation of provincial air quality regulations.

Hamilton Industrial Environmental Association (HIEA) is a non-profit association representing local private sector industries which provides an open forum for community representatives and local associations to discuss environmental concerns regarding their respective communities. HIEA offers a Stack Identification link to aid citizens in identifying local stacks.
